At last the venue situation is changing. New management have reopened the Subway for the weekends and there appears fo be a privately run venue in the

Old Pram Factory, corner Colombo and St. Asaph streets whilst the Dux, Carlton and Blues Club are all still available at various times during each

week. There are rumours of the Cashel St warehouse reopening too. ‘ Swirl are no longer since guitarist Duncan Mclean left to pursue a career in fashion. Remaining members Steve Chindler, Leighton Pace and Dominic Feuchs have regrouped as L.P. Vaudeville and have a tape out soon. Ex-Sneaky Feelings John Kelcher has just released a cassette through Failsafe as have Little Dead Things. Failsafe’s first vinyl release in sometime, from Holy Toledoes, is at the cover printing stage . ..Big news for the month is the arrival of the South Islands first full, non-mobile 24 track recording studio. Geronimo Studios in Manchester St (ph 772 228) is run by Londoner Andy McLachlan and local, Alistar Kincaid. Although not as yet officially open the studio which willbe concentrating on bands, audio post production and commercials and has just finished recording an animated featurette for overseas release.
