Building Notes.

WELLINGTION Mr. W. FIELDING, Lic.R.1.8.A., has the following works in progress:Bread Factory, Offices and Stables, Newtown, for the Denhard Automatic Baking Co., Ltd., Mr. A. E. Hurrell, builder. Residence, Central Terrace, Kelburne, for Mr. J. Dalrymple; Mr. D. M. Owens, builder. Residence, Glen Road, Kelburne, for Mr. A. E. Phelps ; Mr. R. Moffatt, builder. Cottage Residence at Northland, for Mr. Sarjinson. Tenders in hand for Houses at Lower Hutt, Hataitai and Lyall Bay. The Wellington Publishing Company, proprietors of the “Dominion” newspaper, are contemplating enlarged premises. Plans have already been passed by the Directors for this purpose. Messrs. C. TILLEARD NATUSCH & SONS, architects, have the following in hand A contract let to Messrs. Mullany and Harford for a house at Hastings, H. 8., for F. Douglas, Esq., of Te Mahanga, the plans of which show a single storey picturesque rough cast building, including four large reception rooms, a special feature of the house being a splendid billiard room. —A contract for a two-storey block of shops and flats in Emerson Street, for Messrs. Eddy and Smith, plumbers, of Napier, has been let to Mr. Wm. Glendinning, cost about £2,400.The Masonic Lodge at Feilding is undergoing additions and general improvements, the front of which is to be completely remodelled in brick, with plastered columns, capitals and mouldings, and pressed brick panels. Lavatory accommodation is to be brought up-to-date, and the interior of lodge redecorated; contractor, Mr. W. Wilkinson. —At Ngaio Messrs. Irvine and Burr, builders, have a contract in hand for a house for Mrs. Ryan. —Messrs. Natusch and Sons have also in hand plans for extensive additions and alterations to the People’s Picture Palace in Manners Street, Wellington. A circle to accommodate 220 people, with staircase and foyer, and the redecoration of the whole of the interior, including a plaster ceiling below the roof principals, are among the principal items of the work. A large portion of the roof will have to be raised.

The value of buildings in Khandallah, Ngaio, Kaiwarra for year ending April, 1913, amounted to £40,000 and £4,000 for past six months in the same district.

CHRISTCHURCH. The building permits issued in the City for the last few months are; —May, 34 permits, to value of £11,717; June, 38 permits, value £17,950; July, 42 permits, value £18,355: August, 27 permits, value £16,160.
