Messrs. LUSK & MORIARTY, architects, completed recently the Dominion Hotel. The design is Georgian renaissance, a four-storied building. Offices and sample rooms in brick and' stone finish, for Meehan, Esq., grain merchant. This building is marked by two full supporting columns in facade. In course of construction for Dr. Gibson, a two-storied gable residence, 12 rooms, essentially English in character of design.

A two-storeyed, gabled residence, standing in 40 acres of park-like ground, .is being built for E. D. Giles, Esq., designed by Architect JAS. S. TURNBULL, containing billiard-room, 18ft. x 26ft., with ingle-nook and semi-circular window, drawing-room, 26ft. x 18ft, with ingle-nook, draw-ing-room, 24ft. x 16ft., with a bow window, porch, in brick and stone finish, opening into vestibule, with cloak room, hallway and hall, a verandah, 8 bedrooms, rooms for maids, domestic offices, etc., 17 rooms, brick and rough-cast; contractor, P. The new freezing works at Pukeuri, for Christchurch Meat CP., will cost over £40,000; floors, reinforced cement, walls in brick; contractors, Emil Hull and Sons; steel windows, Schlaadt, Ltd.; ironwork, Wallace and Cooper, Timaru; roofing, John Chambers, “Poilite”; Messrs Walter Panton and 'Son are the architect®, and the same firm are carrying out the following works:Homestead at Mahikihi, for Luscombe Bros.; hotel, Waihao, 22 rooms; re-modelling 8 shops, Stafford Street; additions to Carnegie Library ; and alterations to Empire Hotel.

In Pavilion, Caroline Bay; £IOOO, containing a stage, with dressing-rooms, and floor suitable fori dancing; contractors, Tooth and Son; the employment of roughly dressed stones at entrances is most effective; roofed in Marseilles tiles. G. TAYLOR, builder. is constructing 2 cottages, 5 and 6 rooms. The first contains living-room, 3 bedrooms and kitchen, etc., £SOO, while the second will have living-room, 3 bedrooms, drawing-room and kitchen, etc., £6OO. Boys’ School: Lecture hall, library, 16 rooms, 2 storeys; lighting (electricity), Scott Bros.; plumbing, etc., James Craigie. . > TEMUKA. The Bank of Australasia, Temuka: Bank chambers and manager’s residence: Two storeys, classical renaissance, brick and stone finish, pediment supported on full columns over entrance, and pilasters left and right of end bays support heavy cornice, and parapet, with pleasing skyline, the balance of relief work pleasing contrast to brickwork; bricks by Kirk, and in all local work; architect, Jas. S. Turnbull, of Timaru; contractor, D. Mclnnis. - - - - 0 AMARU. St. Luke’s Church, which was commenced in 1865, has now been completed by the erection of a chancel, 29ft. x 20ft., and tower, with spire 125 ft. high, at a total cost of £2200. In the basement are rooms suitable for vestry purposes, and communication is provided to the chancel by means of a winding stair, a smaller one leading upwards to the ringing chamber and bell stage. The building has been carried out in Oamaru stone “rock faced.” The east window has been altered somewhat from what was laid dbwn on the original plan, to permit of the insertion of a memorial window to the first vicar of the church. The choir is fitted up with benches of figured' rimu, and a new pulpit of the same material is provided. Architect, J. M. Forrester. Contractors mason’s work, McKenzie and Niells; carpenter’s work, D. Sinclair. The Science Block of Boys’ High School has recently been completed, and fitted out for chemistry, physics and biology. There is an art room and other class rooms. Building erected in Gamam stone. Contractors : Stonework, Bottle and Milne carpenter work, T. Harris and Son; fittings, David Sinclair. This building is remindful of a priory of Tudor days, with imposing bays, treated with castellations. New building for the New Zealand Express Co., Ltd.: Messrs. McDonald and Dunning, Architects; frontage, 50ft., depth, 120 ft., two storeys, ground floor, office and storerooms, ten well-lighted sample rooms, most modern improvements. Materials ; Oamaru stone ; floors and roof, reinforced concrete; fireproof stains, in ooncete. Classical lines, Doric details; the stone from T. and T. and O.K. quarry, and J. Gay’s; Briscoe’s triangular mesh-reinforcement; roof, Malthioid, Dennison, Dunedin; cement, Milburn. Clerk of the Works, Mr. A. C. Dupree. AUCKLAND. Mr. J. PARK, F.N.Z.1.A., Onehunga, Auckland, reports he has the following work in hand:Two large bungalow residences’ at Norman’s Hill, residence at Hillsbro’, 3 cottages at Onehunga, large residence, with stables, milking sheds, etc., at Mangere. Just completed are new Friendly Society’s hall and a bungalow residence at Onehunga. He is calling for tenders for residence in Church Street, Onehunga; shop and dwelling, Tepapapa, cottage, Royal Oak estate; and dressing sheds for the Onehunga Borough ■Council. He will also have some thousands of pounds’ worth of work commencing as soon as the weather permits of starting. Mr. JOHN FARRELL, Architect, is calling for tenders by the 22nd inst., for additions to the Taupiri school in wood; plans at Taupiri and Hamilton Post Offices. For a new school, at Kiwitaki, near Moxrinsville ; plans at Morrinsville and Hamilton Post Offices. Mr. E. G.
