Stone Construction.

"Bombarded with stone is the somewhat striking title of an article in a contemporary designed to depict the sorrows of some much-worried Mayor. We wish the same could be said of every Mayor of the Dominion, and of ever}- individual who is building a house for any purpose whatever.

The foundation stone of the new V.M.C.A. building, Christchurch, was laid on Monday. September 7th. Thei building, which should be finished m about twelve months, will be a handsome and commodious structure. Architects, Claikson & Ballantyne; contractors, Hughes & Hansf'oid. The contract time for the erection of the new warehouse for E. Malcolm, Ltd. (on the site o± the late big fiie), expires at the end of Octobei, but tie buildeis state that the building will be finished before the end of September.
