Weeks, Ltd., have let a contract for new printing works m Madras street, Christchurch. The contractors are at present engaged on the excavations and foundations. Whitcombe & Tombs's new premises 111 Christchurch, one to serve as a shop, and the other as a factory, etc., both buildings being in course of erection. Collins & Harman, architects, Graham & Greig, contractors, for the former ; Clarkson & Ballantyne, architects H. E. White, contractor, for the latter. ****** Other Christchurch contracts in progress, for which Rennie & Pearce are responsible, are — Alterations to the Canterbury hall, which is m future to be known as His Majesty's Theatre, and the new Orange hall, m Worcester street. The latter building is now completed up to the roof, and is expected to be finished m July. The total amount of these contracts is £18,000.

The New Zealand Express Co.'s new building, at the corner of Hereford and Manchester streets, Chnstchurch, is rapidly approaching completion. The contractor expects to have this seven-stoned structure roofed within the next six weeks. lences. It contains drawing, dining and five bed rooms, with kitchen, scuJlery, pantry, bath room, w.c., etc. A hali-glass door opens out from the dming-room on to the verandah, which is 10 ft. wide — the dwarf walls making it pleasant and cosy. Architect, A. H. Hart ; builder, H. J. Nightingale. ****** A villa residence, fig i, at Dallington, near Christchurch, has just been completed for Mr. W. L. Scott, and contains drawing, dining and breakfast rooms, kitchen and offices ; five bed rooms, linen closet, bath room w.c and all conveniences. Very handsome leaded lights are fixed at entrance

doorway and in staircase window. There is also a detached washhouse, bicycle room and w.c. The house is most conveniently arranged. The lower rooms are fitted with Ritchies patent well fire grates. Gee. ****** A pnvate boarding house has recently been erected in Cashel street west, and contains on the ground floor drawing-room, dining-room, sitting-room, smoking-room, spacious hall, owner's bed room, kitchen, pantry, china closet, scullery, bath room, w.c. and washhouse. A handsome staircase leads

from hall to upper floor on which there are ten bed rooms, bath room, w.c, and linen closet, with passage leading on to balcony. The house is exceedingly well arranged and has all up-to-date conveniences. Architect, A. H. Hart ; builder, Thos. Chirnside.
