J The boy William Johnston, who absconded from the Industral School at Caversham, on the 18th of September last has not as yet been found, let further search and inquiry be made for him. William Meldrum, charged on warrant of arrest issued by the Dunedin Bench in default of paying £§ and 2s. 6d. costs, towards the support of his wife and child has been arrested by Constable Green, Oamaru police. Henry O’Neill, charged on warrant issued at Christchurch with neglecting to provide for the support of his illegitimate child by Johanna Burke, has been arrested by the Canterbury police. Daniel Anstonson, alias Higher, charged on warrant with wife desertion, at Christchurch, has been arrested by the Canterbury police. &

(From Police Gazette 30th November, 1873, page 283.) Information is requested of Augustus Adderly Sleigh, who left England for Melbourne in June, 1873, in the Zoroaster, Commander Wakeman. He was heard of by letter dated Post Office, Melbourne, 2nd December, 1874, stating he was thinking of going to New Zealand. Description : About twenty years of age, very short with full fat face, prominent eyes, and has a quick way of speaking, son of the late Captain Adderley Sleigh, of H. M. Navy. Information to Detective Office, Melbourne, O. 6223, 29th November, 1875. (Vide Victoria Police Gazette, 1873, pages 279 and 303, and Otago Police Gazette, 1873, page 113.) James E. Raymond, charged on warrant with making a false entry in the books of the London Chartered Bank at Ararat, on the 30th September last, has been arrested by the Adelaide police.
