(Vide Police Gazette 1875, page 42.) Joseph Barnes, alias Samuel Barnes charged oil warrant with obtaining £4 by means of a valueless cheque from John Eishenden, at Invercargill, has been arrested by Constable Wohlmann, Lowther police.

(Vide Police Gazette, 1875, gage 43.) The engineer’s vice, stolen from the premises of John Walker, G-eorge-street, Dunedin, has been traced to the possession of Daniel Whelan alias Burgess, who has been arrested by Constable Bain, Dunedin police, and sentenced to three months’ labor.

(Vide Police Gazette, 1875, page 32.) The crowbar reported as stolen from a building in course of erection on the Portobello road near Anderson’s Bay, the property of E. Cadzow and F. Rae has been recovered.

(Vide Police Gazette, 1875, page 30.) The offender, name unknown, charged on warrant with having obtained 10s. from Patrick Silkc at Invercargill, by means of a valueless cheque ; is identical with Joseph Barnes alias Samuel Barnes, who has been arrested by Constable Wohlmann, Lowther police, for a similar offence committed on John Eishenden.

(Vide Police Gazette 1875, gage 43.) The steel grey tweed Crimean shirts stolen from the shop door of Charles Nunn, King-street, Dunedin have been recovered, and Daniel Whelan alias Burgess arrested, by Constable Bain, Dunedin police, for stealing them, and sentenced to one month’s labor.

(Vide Police Gazette , 1875, gage 42.) Joseph Hannan alias Hughes, charged on warrant with deserting his wife, has been arrested by Constable Alexander Henderson, Dunedin police.
