Rewards. The sum of £3 has been awarded to Sergeant Patrick Finnegan, Balclutha Police, in acknowledgment of his services in effecting the arrest of James O’Connell and William Pace, sentenced to one month’s labour each for larceny, committed at the wreck of the ship Surat, Catlin’s River.

John Blair, charged with the larceny of a cheque for £99 18s. Bd. from the Supreme Court Offices, Dunedin, has been arrested by Constable Henderson, Dunedin police, and committed for trial.

Thomas Drain, charged with indecently assaulting with intent to ravish, Margaret Faulkener, aged nine years, at Waitahuna, on the 9th instant, has been arrested by Sergeant Farrell, Lawrence police, and committed for trial.

Richard Todd, charged with stealing gold from the , gold mining claim of Messrs. Hill and llolmesj£ S' Tinker’s Gully, on the 25th ultimo, has been . by Constable Morton, St. Bathan’s police. f ,
