The patent lever escapement clock and old blue jumper, reported as stolen from Messrs Hare and Pratt’s hour mill at Invercargill, have been recovered. Vide Police Gazette , 1873, page 59. George White and John Buckley, charged with deserting from the hired service of the New Zealand Meat Preserving Company at Kakanui, have been arrested by Constable Clark, Oamaru Police. David Waddle, charged with indecently assaulting a Miss Shields at Woodlands, has been arrested by Sergeant Smith, Oamaru Police, remanded to Invercargill, and committed for trial. Vide Police Gazette , 1873. page 60. The draught mare reported as stolen at Winton, the property of William Cook, has been found dead in a ditch in the Winton bush.
