Inquests.

An inquest was held on the 22nd ultimo, at the Tuapeka Mouth Hotel, Tuapeka Mouth, by Alexander Stewart, Esq., J.P., on the body of a man supposed to be John Brown, a miner, aged 40 years, who was drowned at Alexandra on the 17th of July, 1872, and whose body was found on the 14th ultimo, on the bank of the Molyneux river, between Tuapeka Mouth and the Beaumont. Verdict- Found dead.

Deceased when found was dressed in dark broad ribbed tweed trousers, grey Crimean shirt, dark woollen scarf with white stripes, common leather belt, and strong watertight boots, which ha-1 been half soled.

An inquest was held.on the Ist instant, at the Courthouse, Port Chalmers, by David O’Donoghue, Esq., Coroner, on the body of Peter Wilson, a sailor, aged 29 years, who fell overboard the ketch Fanny, at Port Chalmers, on that day and was drowned. Verdict— Accidentally drowned.

An inquest wa3 held on the 11th instant, at the Commercial Hotel, Riverton, by F. A. Monckton, Esq., Coroner, on the body of William Madden, a miner, aged 37, years, who died there on the 9th instant from the effects of injuries sustained by a quantity of earth falling upon him in his gold mining claim at Orepuki on the sth instant. Verdict—Died from rupture of the bladder, accidentally caused by a fall of earth.

An inquest was held on the 14th instant, at the Milton Hotel, Tokomairiro, by John L. Gillies, Esq., J.P., on the body of James Bray ley, a laborer, aged 40 years, who was killed at Fairfax, on the day previous by a horse and dray which he was driving running over him. Verdict—Accidentally killed. ,

Hocken, Esq., Coroner, on the body of Francis William Armstrong, a prisoner of the Crown, aged 21 years, who died there on that day. Verdict —Died from inflammation of the lungs. N An inquest was held on the 24th instant at the WO2 Lunatic Asylum, Dunedin, by T. M. Hocken, Coroner, on the body of Barbara Simpson, aged 73 years, who died there on the day previous.
