Felonies and Other Offences.

A warrant has been issued by the Invercargill Bench for the arrest of Duncan McFarlane, alias David Lorrell, alias Larrell, charged with bigamy at Auckland, on the 6th September, 1872. Offender is a native of 01 a.i, Argyleshire, Scotland, a shoemaker, 40 to 45 years of age, between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet high, stout, able frame, good looking, dark complexion, brown hair, clean shaved except goatee, served in the New South Wales Police Force for several years, and kept a stall in the Sydney Market; he also kept a store in Maitland street, Dunedin, in ,1863, and in 1866 or 1867 kept Mack’s Hotel, Greymouth, West Coast, and in 1870 lived at Tauranga. He is known to James Kennedy, hotel-keeper, Melbourne (who kept the Robert Burns Hotel, in George street, Dunedin), to Constable Slattery, of Melbourne, to John Kennedy, of Carrington, to Webb and Booth, commission agents, Sussex street, Sydney, and to Elizabeth Norris, whom he married at Auckland in September, 1872, and who is supposed to be residing with her father, W. J. Norris, grocer, Forest Lodge Glebe, Sydney, N.S.W. Offender left the Bluff on the 24th ultimo, by the steamer Claud Hamilton, 'for Melbourne, giving his name as Mr Larrell.

’•A.warrant has been issued by the Dunedin Bench . for the arrest of John Kenny, charged with deserting x his wife and family, at Dunedin, on the 26th instant. W Offender is a native of Cork, Ireland, a laborer, 34 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, stout build, black hair, dark brown whiskers and moustache. He is supposed to be residing in the Tuapeka district.

Warrants have been issued by the Oamaru Bench for the arrest of George White and John Buckley, charged with deserting from the hired service of the New Zealand Meat Preserving Company, at,Kakanui, on the Ist instant.

White is about 17 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, fair hair, pale, sickly complexion, slightly pockpitted, slight build, wore broad brimmed black felt hat, and colonial tweed suit.

Buckley is an . Englishman, about 20 years of age, 5 feet 3 inches high, square, thick-set build, fair hair, no whiskers or moustache, wore brown twee 1 sac coat, and light colored trousers. It is supposed they will endeavor to get employment on board a ship going to England.

Between 9 p.m. on the 17th and 6.3 C a.m. on the 18th inst., the dwelling of McDonald and Daring, butchers, George street, Dunedin, was burgariously entered, and a common tin japanned cash-box, size 6 by 3 by 2 inches, containing a £lO note, 4 £1 notes, £2 in gold, £3 in silver, a cheque on the Bank of New Zealand, Dunedin, for £29 2s 6d, signed by Bartlett and Thomson, and a cheque on the same Bank for £25 16s 6d, signed by Driver, Stewart and Go. in McDonald and

Doring’s favor, an 1.0. U. for £l4, signed by David Kennward, an agreement between McDonald, Doring and Thomson, and a dishonored acceptance for £BS 13s lOd, signed by J. 0. Spence.

Stolen, on the 9th instant, from the shop of Christian Bode, George street, Dunedin, a white paper collar box with small pink spots, containing about 9s or 10s in silver. Box identifiable.

Lost or stolen, from the person of Thomas Poole, at Balclutha, about the 29th ultimo, a leather pocketbook, containing four £1 notes, an 1.0. U. for £5 dated the 4th August, 1873, and signed by Robert Hogg, a Government life insurance receipt for £2 3s sd, dated the 4th August last, a woman’s carte-de-visite, and several letters. Identifiable except money.

Stolen, on the 13th instant, from a till in the shop of George Jeffrey. Lawrence, two £l notes.

Stolen, on the 26th ultimo, from the person of James Black, of Oamaru, a medium-sized black pocket-book, elastic band wanting, containing two £5 notes and four £1 notes. Pocket-book identifiable.

Suspicion attached to Harry Williams alias Little Harry, a Londoner, a cook, !?5 y?ar3 of age, 4 feet 7 inches high, stout build, bow-legged, clean shaved, wore hard black felt hat, light colored tweed sac coat and vest and dark tweed trousers.

Lost or stolen, on the 3rd instant, from the person of Miss Manders, at the Railway Station, Dunedin, a black leather purse, with elastic band, containing one £5 note and one £1 note, on the Bank of New South Wales, and one half-sovereign. Purse identifiable.

Stolen, about the 23rd ultimo, from the mining claim of Michael Kitt, Half-mile Beach, near Alexand quantity of auriferous earth, supposed to contain about 8 ounces of gold.

Stolen, between the 25th and 30th ultimo, from Rattray street Jetty, Dunedin, a, cask containing between 30 and 50 dozen empty pint bottles, the property of Coleman Burke. Value £2. ’
