Miscellaneous Information.

Rewards. . The sum of L 5 has been awarded from the Police Reward Fund to Sergeant Thomas Neil, in acknowledgment of zeal and ability displayed in the arrest and prosecution of Peter Fotheringham, sentenced at the last sitting of the Supreme Court, Dunedin, to one year’s labor for larceny from an hotel, and to four years’ labor for breaking into a counting-house and stealing therefrom.

The sum of L 3 has been awarded from the Police Rewerd Fund to Constable George Wohlmann, in acknowledgment of zeal]displayed, in the pursuit and arrest of Albert Henry Lee, sentenced to three months’ labor for stealing from a dwelling.

Vide Police Gazette, 1873, page 1. The warrant issued by the Dunedin Bench for the arrest of William Burston, charged with deserting his wife, lias been cancelled.

Vide Police Gazette, 1873, page 18. The dog reported to have been stolen at Blacks, the property of Michael Hagan, has been found killed. The watch reported as stolen from the person of John McDonald, at Dunedin, has been recovered.

Vide Police Gazette, 1873, pages 18 and 19. The clothing, and a portion of the stamps reported as stolen from the Harbour Company’s Office, Dunedin, have been recovered by the Port Chalmers Police, and traced to the possession of Peter Fotheringham, who has been arrested and sentenced to four years’ labor for breaking into the office and stealing the same.

Vide Police Gazette, 1873, page 17.The boots reported as stolen from the dwelling of James Morris, the property of James Spratley, have been found by the Dunedin police in the possession of Michael Kane. The iron stern gland reported as stolen from the Stuart street jetty, the property of Thomas H. Davidson, has been recovered. Lost, on the 22nd instant, at the Auld Scotland Hotel, Stuart street, Dunedin, a small sized pockeibook, with blue ribbon tied round it, containing twenty LI notes, four L 5 notes, and one LI 0 note, the property of John Edmondstone. Pocket-book identifiable.
