Inquests.

An inquest was held on the 11th inst., at the Ballarat Hotel, Arrowtown, by R. Beetham Esq., E.M and Coroner, on the body of Edward Cox, a bakei aged 47 years, who was killed by falling down ; precipice between Arrowtown and Macetown on th Bth inst., while in a state of intoxication. VerdictAccidentally killed.

An inquest was held on the 13th instant, at tl Wakatipu Hotel, Queenstown, by R. Beetham, Esi R.M. and Coroner, on the body of Thomas Jones, miner, aged 40 years, who was killed by a fall earth while working in a mining claim at Nine-Mi Creek, on the 10th instant. Verdict—killed.

An inquest was held, on the 14th instant, at t Lunatic Asylum, Dunedin, by T. M. Hocken, Es Coroner, on the body of John Harris, a miner, ag 36 years, who died there on the day previous. V< diet—Died from convulsions.

An inquest was held on the 4th instant, at t Golden Age Hotel, Campbelltown, by Samuel Hod kinson, Esq., Coroner, on the body of William Bail} a diver, aged 55 years, who was accidentally drown at the Bluff Harbor on the day previous. Verdi accordingly.

An inquest was held on the 6th instant, at " Reliance Hotel, East Taieri, by James Fulton, Esc Coroner, on the bodies of two male infants, " illegitimate children of Agnes Irvin, who were M at her father’s residence at Kuri Bush on the D

ultimo. Verdict—No evidence to shew that the children were born alive. Owing to the advanced state of decomposition the doctors who made the post mortem examination were unable to say whether the children were born alive or not.

An inquest was held on the 27th instant, at the Hospital, Dunedin, by T. M. Hocken, Esq., Coroner, on the body. of Alexander; Dillon, Harvey (a prisoner undergoing a sentence for vagrancy in the Dunedin Graol), a clerk, aged 43 years, who died there on the 25th instant. Verdict—i-Died from consumption.

An inquest was held on the 28th instant, at Martin’s Hotel, Stafford street; Dunedin; by T. M. Hocken, Esq., Coroner, on' the body;of Elizabeth . Charlotte Wanstall, aged 3 years, daughter of Edward Wanstall, who died on the previous day from , the . effects of injuries received . her night-dress catching fire on the 25th instant in -her father’s residence, Melville street. Verdict—Accidentally burnt, and so causing death.
