Whereas Mary Burke, who has been missing since September, 1858, appears to have been murdered on or about the 9th of that month, at Woolert, near Epping, in the county of Bourke: And whereas an inquest has been held on her 'remains, and a verdict of wilful murder has been returned against Bartholomew Burke, the husband of the said Mary Burke: Notice is hereby given.that a reward of £IOO will be paid by the Government for such information as shall lead to the apprehension and conviction of the said Bartholomew Burke. AboutH 860 he worked at Kew for two contractors, named respectively Morgan and Sobie, being then known by the name of Moore. In 1859 he worked at Gardiner and Cheltenham under two contractors, named respectively, Dwyer and Malone, at the time when one : George Oldham was murdered there by one Regan. About two years ago he was at work stone breaking near the Plough Inn, Plenty road. His general appearance is that of a laborer. A communication from the Superintendent of. the Detective Police, Melbourne, has been received, that he has been informed on good authority that the above named Bartholomew Burke, alias Moore, is at present working in company with one John Bohen or Bohan in one of the New Zealand old Fields, or in the

employ of some of the road contractors in th same districts, especially in that of any Con naught man. Officers in charge of districts will then use every exertion in their respective districts, and report the result. [Burke can be identified by Constable James Whelan, Dunedin.]
