APPREHENSIONS.
Henry Pierce , charged ~with breaking into the warehouse of Messrs. Ko-hn and Co., and stealing therefrom .a quantity o! .meerschaum pipes, vide Police Gazette, 4th January, 1864, page 2, has been a' rested bv the Detective Police, committed for trial, and a large’portion of the pipes recovered. Mary Thompson , for two , cases of petty larceny, has been arrested bv the Dune lin Detective Police and sentenced to 14 days’ imprisonment with hard labour.
James Wheelan alias P- ter Burns for violently assaulting one Neil Cook, has been arrested by the Dunedin Police, and sentenced to two months’ hard labour. Jacob Davis , for robbery from the person, has been arrested by the Dunedin Police, and committed for trial.
James Curran alias Jana Burt, for larceny, arrested by the Dunedin Detective Police, has been st ntenced to three months’ imprisonment with hard labour.
Joseph Collins, arrested by the, Dunstan Detective Pol ee, for larceny, has been committed for trial. '
Edward Seymour, .for being the occupier of a house frequented by thieves and ( vagabonds at the Dunstan, has been committed to,prison for 3 months, with hard labour.
Antonio Gottifer, for larceny, arrested by the Dunstan Detective Police, has been committed for trial.
Horace Jesse Hodges, for larceny, arrested by Dunedin Detective Police, has been sentenced to 14 days’ imprisonment.
