Offices of the Police Department, Dunedin, 4th January, 1864 Officers in charge of Districts and Escorts are reminded that the present “Financial” year terminate* on the 31st March next, and that it behoves them to use the utmost caution in incurring (consistently with the efficiency of the Department) any expenditure, in older not to exceed the sums voted by the Provincial Council “for the contingent expenses” of the force.

Care must also be taken that there be no outstanding accounts whatsoever, after the 31st March, as none will be recognized after that date, unless it can be most satisfactorily proved that the delay for submitting them for payment was unavoidable.
