Father Finnerty, Kumar a, is visiting Christchurch for a few days and is the guest of his Lordship the .Bishop, at. the presbytery, Barba docs Street.^ A concert in aid of the funds of the Woolston parish was Held in the Hibernian Hall, on Thursday evening, and was very well attended; The Sunbeam Concert Party ,supplied the programme, which was of a high order and heartily applauded. ; At the recent children’s plain and fancy dress ball, in aid of Nazareth House,s the judges—Airs. J. K. Archer (Mayoress), Airs. J. H. Stringer, Miss Simpson, Mr. James Mills (Wellington), and Mr. Frank McDonald awarded the prizes as follows:Best dressed girl, Honda Wanty; best dressed boy, Jim Humphrey; most original girl,- Phyllis Snooks; most original boy, Ralph Richards -.best matched cjmple, Pat and Peggy Keogh ; most humorous, Lucy Mercer; smallest. Alary Mercer., ■ ' ■ A . An enjoyable and well attended da lice, organised by the Junior-Marist football Chib, in aid of the queen carnival fund, was held in the Jellicoe Hall on Monday evening. The members of the committee were: -r-Messrs J. Crocker, P. ; Clarkson, W. Byrne-and V. Smith (secretary). Len Blogg’s jazz hand; supplied the music for-the dancing. The Catholic Entertainers Club held a very successful plain and fancy dress dance-- in the Catholic Club rooms on Wednesday evenmg.
