ST. JOSEPH'S BRANCH, DUNEDIN. The hall-yearly meeting of the Si. Joseph’s branch (No. 73) of the Hibernian Society, was held in St. Joseph’s Hall, Rattray Street, on Tuesday, the Bth ilist. Bro. R. A. Simpson presided over a, large attendance of members. Two new members vert' elected and three proposed for membership. The president spoke regarding the animal Communion, which was held in the Sacred Heart Church, North-east Valley, on Sunday. June 123, and congratulated the members on attending in such large numbers. The Children of Mary of the North-east Valley received a vote of thanks for the breakfast they prepared for the members of the society. The ins; alia 1 ion of office-bearers, was proceeded with as follows;--President, Bro. R. A. Simpson; vicepresident, Bro. A. (liiliek; secretary, Bro. J. J. Ford; treasurer, Bro. T. J. Moyle; warden, Bro. • P. Hesford; guardian, Bro. ,1. Fogarty; sick visitors, Bros. A. Borland, J. Hughes, and W. Simpson; auditors. Bros. ,1. N. Smith and J. J. Harlow, pin. The inst illation ceremony was performed by the district deputy, Bro. J. J. Marlow, who was assisted by Bro. R. Walsh, R.R. The district deputy then addressed the newly-installed officers. A presentation of .a. past president’s idea to was made to Bro. J. J. Marlow, jun., by the district deputy, who spoke in a very high manner of the work of Bro. Marlow during his term of office. Several other members spoke of the valued services rendered to the branch by Bro. Marlow, and he replied in suitable terms. At the close of the business of the meeting those present engaged in a card tournament, and an interesting and enjoyable time was spent.
