v n mvu&ut 111,11 owiivui) U 1 vj IKUUIII OPENED BY ARCHBISHOP ALAN NIX. His Grace the Most Rev. Dr. Mannix, Archbishop of Melbourne, accompanied by the Right Rev. Dr. McCarthy, Bishop of Sandhurst, and Right Rev. Dr. Brodie* Bishop of Christchurch, was (says a press message) met on his arrival ,at the railway station, Greymouth, on Saturday last by a crowd of between 2000 and 3000 people. After a procession through the streets he was tendered a formal public reception, addresses being given by the Mayor of Greymouth (Mr. W. H. Parfitt) and Mr. Jas. O’Brien (member for the district). On Sunday Archbishop Mannix presided at two large gatherings, performing in the afternoon the ceremony of opening the Dean Carew Memorial School, which cost between £7500 and £BOOO. A sum close on £SOO was collected during the afternoon towards wiping out the debt. . ' , Archbishop Mannix was to leave next day for the South Westland scenic region. > '
