The Late Dean Thomas McKenna

The esteem in which, the late Dean Thomas McKenna was held by the people of Wellington was manifested by the devout congregation that filled St. Anne’s Church on the occasion of his Month’s Mind, which took place., on the morning of the eighth (writes our own correspondent). His Grace the Archbishop presided, and his Grace Archbishop O’Shea, Monsignor McKenna and Monsignor Power were in the sanctuary. Despite the illness throughout the diocese which prevented many priests from attending, there were no fewer than fifty-four present. These included Archdeacon Devoy, Deans Reguault and Lane, Very Rev. Father O’Reilly, S.M. (Provincial), Fathers M. Dillon (New Plymouth), J. Kennedy (Opnnake), J. Forrcstal (Inglewood), ,1. Phelan (Patca), J. McGuire (Manaia), T. Cahill (Feilding), V. Doherty (Palmerston North), M. Fitzgibhon (Levin), V. Kelly (Eketahuna), M. Cashman (Pahiatna), Daly (Dannevirke), M. Klemick (Upper Hutt), R. Moran (Lower Hntt), P. Quealy (Petone), J. O’Connell, J. Seymour and T. Hanrahan (Christchurch), J. Herring (Reefton), R. Hoare (Nelson), H. Hegarty (Carterton), F. Devlin (Masterton), C. H. Seymour and Casey (Greenmeadows). The Wellington parishes were represented as follow:Fathers P. Smyth and J. Spillane (Basilica, Hill Street), S. Mahouy, 31. Murphy, and J. Fallon (St. Anne's, Newtown), P. Whelan, I). 'Mitchell, and T. Campbell (St. Gerard’s, Redemptorist Monastery), M. O’Leary, J. Fceleton, and A. Herring (Alarist Mission House), T. Gilbert. H. Ryan, and McDonnell (St. Patrick's College), Al. Devoy (St. Francis's, Island Bay), and Father O’Shea, of the Chinese Mission. Air. James and Airs. McKenna, from Eketaluma, and Aliss A folly AlcKenna, relatives of the late dean, were also present. The congregation also included members of the religions Orders of the Sisters of Mercy, Wellington convents, and Upper Hutt, and Sisters from the Home of Compassion ,Island Bay.
