As a fitting conclusion to the queen competition in connection with the recent carnival held in aid of the St. Vincent's Orphanage building fund, the coronation ceremony, for which extensive preparations have been made, will take place at His Majesty's Theatre, on Monday evening, the 23rd inst., and.repeated on the following evening (the 24th). As' a spectacular event the "coronation" promises to surpass all previous functions of this nature staged in Dunedin. A jumble sale in aid of St. Vincent's Orphanage will be held on Friday next in the Old Post Office buildings, , Princes Street. The sale will be conducted by ladies of the sewing guild in connection with the orphanage, who will gladly accept donations to help them ,in the good work in which they are. engaged. On Anzac Day (Wednesday, April 25) Requiem High Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Cathedral, commencing at 0 a.m., for the repose of the souls of the Catholic soldiers who lost their lives as a result of the Great War. Special space will be reserved for returned men and cadets. NORTH-EAST VALLEY BAZAAR. The ladies appointed to the charge of the' various stalls in connection with the bazaar, to be held in June in aid of the funds of the Sacred Heart Church, North-east Valley, are actively engaged in .promoting functions to provide for necessary requirements. Satisfactory results have so far been attained, and it is hoped every possible assistance will be given to the Valley people to enable their church pro-' perty to be- freed from debt. / • An excellent programme has been arranged for the concert to be held in the Sacred Heart Schoolroom, Northeast Valley, this (Thursday) evening, the proceeds of which are to provide for stalls in connection with the bazaar. Several vocalists new to Catholic audiences will assist. For the benefit of .the represhment and sweets', stall, a. euchre party will be held at the residence of Mrs. Thompson, (opposite the Botanical Gardens), on next Thursday (April 26). As tickets will cost only the small sum of one shilling, a numerous gathering is expected. Supper is to be provided. CATHOLIC STUDENTS' CLUB, DUNEDIN. There was a large attendance in the Christian Brothers' School Assembly Hall on Saturday night, at the meeting of the Otago University Catholic Students' Club. Mr.. O'Regan (president) was in the chair. The minutes of the preceding meeting were read by Mr. J. 11. McKeefry, acting secretary, in the absence of Mr. J. McKenzie. Mr. J. B. Callan gave a most instructive and enjoyable lecture on his impressions of Northern France, Belgium, and the Rhineland, the lecture being illustrated with beautiful lantern-slides. Pictures of the great churches and cathedrals were shown, and the lecturer's able descriptions and reminiscences were much appreciated by the students. Mr. Callan well pointed out the forcible manner in which his experiences of the religious life of the •Continent '-brought home to him the Catholicity of the Church, and traced the inspiration of the great masterpieces of church architecture to its source in the love and devotion of Catholic artists. At the conclusion of the lecture, Mr. O'Regan .thanked Mr. Callan for his able address and his (practical .interest in the club. Mr. Simpson was also thanked for kindly showing the slides. The next meeting will take place on May 5, when a lecture , will be given by Dr. A. J. Hall. The committee of the club for 1923 consists of Mr. O'Regan (president), Mr. J. McKenzie (secretary), x Misses Rule and O'Reilly (arts), Mr. W. Smith (law), Mr. A. Todd (commerce), Mr. Shiel (mining), Messrs. Fouhy and Moloney (dental), Mr. Jeune v (medical), Miss Cullen (ladies), Miss Simmers (home science), and Miss Mills (Training College). ~Q.-:

HIBERNIAN -SOCIETY, PORT CHALMERS. . The fortnightly meeting ■of St. Mary's branch (No. 536) of the H.A.C.B. Society, Port Chalmers, was held in St. Joseph's Convent Schoolroom on the 11th inst (writes a correspondent). The president (Bro. J. F. Duncan) presided, and there was a full attendance of members. The installation of office-bearers formed part of the business of the meeting. Nominations were' received for new members, and it. was suggested that a juvenile contingent of the Hibernian Society be formed in the port town.
