St. Vincent de Paul Society, Dunedin

Report and Statement of accounts in connection with the Conference for .year ending February 20, 1923; —• The executive in submitting its report and balancesheet for the past year, desire to direct the attention of the members of the society to the large amount of relief (as shown by the balance-sheet) that was needed, and to point out that, according to reports received from- time to time, the coming year, and especially during the winter, it will be called upon to administer much greater relief than previously. The members of the executive convey their best thanks to the Blakely Trust, donors, the clergy, and doctors for donations, services, and assistance during the year: and respectfully appeal to all to continue their generosity during the coming year so that the good work may be extended. Well-attended sewing meetings were held by the ladies of the different guilds, and the material made up by them was a great help and saving of expense to

the society. As members are aware, it was ' necessary to engage a District Nurse, and the executive * was very fortunate in securing the services of Nurse Boys, who had done a considerable amount of work in visiting and tending the poor and needy. Her : appointment has proved a great boon/ to the society.. The executive thanks the' 'press -for its ; helpfulness. in reporting the society's meetings, and expresses appreciation of the services rendered by the presidents and secretaries of the various conferences, and by the honorary auditor. The members of the executive realise that their report Would be incomplete without reference being made to the great loss sustained by the society through the lamented death of Monsignor James Coffey, who, whilst amongst us, was ever ready and willing to assist the poor and suffering, and extend their deepest sympathy to his aged iriother, sisters, and relatives.
