' ~ DUNEDIN. The fifth grade final in the Association competition between Christian Brothers and Technical College was played on Saturday as a curtain raiser to the interprovin- v cial match. Christian Brothers won by 3 goals to 1. • AUCKLAND. .; The holiday tour of the Hamilton Marist Brothers' schoolboys in Auckland came to an end on Friday, September 8 . (writes oSr own. correspondent), when the party of 24: boys, after being shown over the Makura, left for Hamilton, under the guardianship of Rev. Father Bleakley and Rev. Brother Calixtus, who had escorted them on the Auckland tour. During their visit the boys were taken a motor-launch trip on the harbor, treated to a fire brigade demonstration by the City Fire Brigade, under Superintendent Wilson, who gave an interesting lecture on the alarm system, and were entertained bv the Mater Hospital and Sacred Heart College. The tour was a great education for the boys, who expressed their delight at the kindly treatment extended them. Nightingale, running from scratch in 28 mm, which established a new college record. , The finals and semi-finals of the Sacred Heart College boxing tournament were held in the college ' gymnasium yesterday evening (says the Auckland. The annual meeting of the Celtic Cricket. Club was held last night, the president (Mr. F. Roach) presidium over a good attendance (says the Timaru Herald for tember 5). The balance sheet, which showed a small credit balance, was considered satisfactory and was adopted. The annual report stated that the year had been a very encouraging one so far as play on the field was concerned, though it was not so encouraging from a financial point. Ihe club s heaviest expense was incurred in the number , of matches played in connection with the Bristol Cup. The club now held the only cup open for competition in South Canterbury. When Ashburton secured this coveted trophy it teH to the Celtic Club to endeavor to wrest it from them and bring it back to Timaru. The annual social had been a great success, and much credit was due to the ladies for their assistance. Thanks were also rendered to all who had assisted the club in any way. Mr. Houlihan was specially, mentioned for his gift of a bat for the most improved player. The report was adopted. Officials for the ensuing year were elected as follows: Patron, Rev. Father Hurley president, Mr. P. F. Roach about 20 vice-presidents were elected: secretary, Mr. Marlow f. treasurer, Mr. G. Flett; executive, Messrs. M. Angland, A. Bentley, F. Geaney, ,L Collins, F. Pearse, J. Joyce, C. Dwiam; club captain, Mr. A. Bentley; delegates, Messrs. M. Houlihan and M. Angland; auditors, Rev. Brother Palladius; coach, Mr. A. Bentley; selection committee Messrs. A. Bentley, M. Angland, and J. Kane (seniors), and G. Flett, R. Marlow, and M. Annear (juniors). The subscription was fixed at 2os for seniors. 12s Gd for juniors, and 5s for hon. members.** It was decided that the opening da-v take place on September 16. Rev. Fathers Hurley and O'Ferral wrote offering trophies for senior and junior batting averages. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded , the donors. It was decided that the cuo which the club won outright last year should be given back and be open in future for competition annually. It was agreed to enter one senior and Wo junior teams this season. Mr F Geaney was elected delegate to the Central Club. -Hearty votes of thanks were passed to all who had assisted the club last season and to the chairman for presiding at that night's meeting. - v •
