PROTESTANT MINISTER MARRIED BY PRIEST.

Rev. Dr. William Leonard Spiegel, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, 'Cincinnati, and president of the Rotary Club of that city, and Miss Marie J. Miller, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles M. Miller, of Denver, were married two weeks ago by Rev. E. J. Mannix, of the Denver Catholic Cathedral (says the Brooklyn Tablet of July 3). After the ceremony Dr! Spiegel and his bride started back to Cincinnati by automobile. He is to preach his farewell sermon in the First Presbyterian Church, then the two are to return to Denver to reside. Dr. Spiegel's first wife was a relative of Miss Miller. At the Cathedral rectory on Monday the rev. gentleman signed the usual promises made when a Protestant is to be married to a Catholic, including the one to have the children who may be born to the union raised in the Catholic Church (says the Denver Register). \ _ The wedding was performed in the sacristy, following a High Mass at which the bride received Holy Communion. Miss Miller is prominent in musical circles. She . studied under the Ladies of the Sacred Heart and then took up journalism at Northwestern "University. Her mother was a Catholic, her father a Protestant. Dr. Spiegel received the D.D. degree at Princeton. He had been in the pulpit a few years when his father, president of the Spiegel-Millvain steel and tank foundries, died, and the minister took over the management of the concern, meanwhile continuing his pastoral work. He is a man of considerable means. He has preached for 14 years in the First Presbyterian Church, of Cincinnati.
