PRESENTATION OF A SCHOOL BANNER
* : \ Quite a pleasant little function took place at the Marist Brothers' School, Greymduth, on | Wednesday morning, June 18 (says; the Greymouth Argus). The boys, assembled in the class-room, were taken by surprise, when they learned that they were to be the happy recipients of a school banner ; ; - Very Rev. Father P. Aubry (pastor of the district), who was the generous donor of the banner,, said - that it gave him. great .pleasure in .presenting the banner . to the boys." He eulogised the work the devoted Bro- . thers were doing, : and was impressed by the soldierly- . C" manner in Which the boys marched. p He also besought ~- the boys to be loyal to their school,v and put in practice' ■ '" r the principles...the Brothers were striving to inculcate. i V"**' '" Father Eccleton, in" a hoiifely little : speech said that the boys had every reason, to be proud of the banner, -, which was an emblem of Faith and Fatherland. One a of their first duties was to be loyal to their school and |- teachers. Loyalty meant respect for ; their teachers, ..., diligence in Svork; ahd ;v clean living. 4 In* concluding "he : strove, to impress on his youthful hearers the love they / should have for.
