The euchre social originally intended to be held in the Sacred Heart Schoolroom, North-East Valley, Dunedin, on November 5, has'been postponed to Wednesday, November 13. - : There was Exposition of tho Blessed Sacrament after the 11 o'clock Mass at St. Joseph's Cathedral on last Sunday. After Compline in the evening there was the usual procession, followed by Solemn Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. There were large congregations at St. Joseph's Cathedral on last Friday and Saturday, Feasts of All Saints and All Souls. Practically the whole of. those who attended the Masses, which were commenced at an early hour, approached. the Holy Table. Solemn Requiem Mass was celebrated at 7 a.m.. on All Souls' Day. . Father Collins (Holy Cross College, Mosgiel) ■ was celebrant and Revs. W. Monaghan and M. Spillane

deacon and subdeacon respectively, and Very Rev. J. Coffey, Adm., master of ceremonies. The incidental music was rendered most devotionally by the Dominican Nuns' Choir. A concert will be given in St. Joseph's Hall, Rattray Street, on Monday evening, November 18, by the members of the recently formed St. Joseph's Glee Club. An attractive programme has been arranged, and it is hoped that liberal patronage will be given to this, the initial effort of our latest musical organisation. The ladies of St. Joseph's Red Cross and Patriotic Guild, who are to control the Red Cross sales depot on next Saturday (November 9), appeal to their many friends to generously support the undertaking, and thus aid the guild to make their day an outstanding success. Donations may be sent direct to the Red Cross sales depot, Old Post Office buildings, Princes Street, at any time between now and Saturday. St. Joseph's Cathedral Parish Committee of the Catholic Federation met on last Sunday evening after devotions, Father Coffey, Adm., presiding. The secretary (Mr. E. Sandys) reported that the enrolment of members was still going on successfully, ami that canvassers would be requested to return all enrolment books by the next monthly meeting. On the motion of the Very Rev. President votes of condolence, were passed and ordered to be conveyed to Mrs. M. A. Jackson (a member of the committee) on the recent death of her husband, also to Messrs. J. llartstonge (York Place, Dunedin), and F. Brcnnan (Upper Junction) on the recent death of their sons—killed in action. In referring to these sad events Father Coffey said that Mr. Brennan had lost four of his sons at the war and Mr. Hartstonge two. Addressing the congregation at the 11 o'clock Mass at St. Joseph's Cathedral on last Sunday, the Very Rev. J. Coffey, Adm., referred at some length to recent developments in connection with the devastating war, that, for the past four years, has scourged the world. The ending of the conflict so far as Turkey was concerned was he said a cause of rejoicing, and he exhorted his hearers to pray for the speedy and lasting peace for which our Holy Father the" Pope and the faithful throughout Christendom have during all these weary, stricken years, constantly prayed. Father Coffey spoke of the Turkish menace to Christianity during many centuries, of the great victory of the Christian fleet at Lepanto in 1571. and of the siege of Vienna of 1683, which failed, thanks to the intervention of the King of Poland.
