f A ceremony of religious profession took place in j the convent chapel on the Feast of Our Lady of Mercy j (September 21) (writes a correspondent). The young ; ladies who pronounced their vows were Miss Teresa Doyle (in religion Sister M. Peter) and Miss Josephine f Armstrong (in religion Sister M. Paul). His Grace : Archbishop O’Shea officiated and delivered a most : touching and appropriate sermon on the religious life, ) Right Rev. Mgr, Walshe, of Westport, and Rev. J. A. i Eccleton, S.M., of Reefton, assisted at the ceremony. | The incidental music was rendered by the Sisters’ i Choir, assisted by a few of their pupils, j A very successful retreat of five days’ duration i for the convent boarders and Children of Mary was ; conducted by Father Eccleton, S.M. At its conclusion •; a number of girls were consecrated Children of Mary. i All the candidates presented by the Sisters of i Mercy, of the convent, Westport, at the recent Trinity College musical examinations were successful as fol- ; lows:—Senior division: Pianoforte, 3; intermediate; ‘ pianoforte (honors), 1; violin, 2; junior: violin i (honors), 1.
