APPRECIATION OF THE TABLET

Mr. N. Keating, secretary of St. Patrick’s branch of the Hibernian Society, Greymouth, writes underrate September'ls, to the editor, as follows : Sir, — I am directed by St. Patrick’s branch H.A.C.B. Society to convey to you the appreciation this branch holds of your efforts in upholding the cause of Ireland. Members unanimously endorse the fearless policy on all matters appertaining to the welfare of the Church which has characterised your editorship, and we hope that you will be long spared to guide the N.Z. Tablet, which has now become a most powerful factor in all matters connected with our Holy Religion. We also wish to congratulate the Tablet on the fact of its establishing a prize fund for Irish history. This is a matter this branch of the H.A.C.B. Society took in hand several years ago, and prizes have been donated by St. Patrick’s branch to all the local schools. This year we are giving prizes for the best essay on the “Life of John Redmond.” With best wishes for the future success of the Tablet.
