(From our own correspondent.) June 6. The numerous friends of Mr. Walter McCarthy will be pleased to know that he is making a good recovery from a serious operat ion, which he underwent on Tuesday last. At the monthly meeting of tin* Catholic Federation, held this week, the balance-sheet of the Field Service concert was presented by the secretary. A credit balance of J-83 was shown as the result of the event, and this amount is being forwarded to the treasurer of the Catholic Field Service Fund in Wellington. The Marist Brothers’ football teams are again showing good form in the third and fourth grade contests. The third grade team journeyed to Hastings on Saturday last, and played Te Ante College, winning by 18 points to 6. This team also played a match at W aipukurau on the King’s Birthday, against a local fifteen, and won by 6 points to 3. The annual triduum of prayer and devotion in connection with the feast of Corpus Christi, held in St. Patrick’s Church, was well attended. Each morning many approached the Holy Table. The evening devotions, consisted of Rosary, instruction on the Blessed Eucharist, and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. The devotions were brought to a close on last Sunday afternoon by a procession of the Blessed Sacrament. The church was crowded in every part. An appropriate discourse was preached by Father Hickson, S.M. The procession, in which almost every Catholic in the parish took part, traversed Munro and Station Streets in the following order; —Cross-bearer and acolytes, the children from the parish and convent schools, the boys from the Marist Brothers’ School, the Children of Mary, general body of parishioners, members of the Hibernian Society, the choir, flower Oris. The Blessed Sacrament was borne by Rev. Dr. Geaney, S.M., -the canopy-bearers being supplied by the St. Vincent de Paul Society, and the principal officers of the H.A.C.B. Society formed a guard of honor. The parish clergy, Fathers Tymons, S.M., and Dowling, S.M., were also in attendance. The number of people taking part in the procession was larger than on an" previous similar occasion. *
