There was recently given in the stately Church of the Passionists—Mount Argus, Harold’s Cross, Dublin, a solemn retreat for the police of the city. Over 700 attended nightly, and their reverential bearing, and earnest attention to the devotional exercises were most impressive. A casual visitor dropping in to pay a visit, was struck with the intense fervor manifested by this fine body of Catholic Irishmen, gathered, as they are, from the four corners of Ireland. Their splendid congregational singing was, too, an edifying feature of the retreat. Father Ignatius, C.P., whose zeal for souls is known all over the country, was unceasing in his efforts to promote the success of the retreat.
