The garden fete held in the Dominican Convent Grounds on last Saturday afternoon for the purpose of raising funds further to improve the grounds passed off most successfully. There was a very large attendance, and the stalls scattered about the grounds were well patronised. Indeed, the result from a financial point of view was even greater than was expected.

The fete was promoted by the Dominican Nuns,; but they had the assistance of many ladies both prior to and during the course of the event itself. During the afternoon and evening the St. Dominic’s orchestra played several selections. : , - The ordinary weekly meeting of St. Joseph’s Men’s Club was held on Monday evening in St. Joseph’s Hall. The president (Rev. Father Ardagh) presided, and there was a good attendance of members. The programme of the evening was a lecture on the “Problems of Economics” by Mr. J. A. Brown, who treated the subject most interestingly and instructively. At the conclusion the lecturer was very heartily thanked by the president and Mr. "J. P. Dunn. The remainder of the evening was filled in with music by Mr. E. Pollock, recitation by Mr. M. Reddington, and short speeches on subjects of own selection by Brother Bowler, Messrs. M. Millar, W. Kennedy, J. P. Dunn, V. Sheehy, E. Sandys, C. L’Estrange, and A. Gallien.
