MUSIC EXAMINATIONS

CONVENT t)F MERCY, GREYMOUTH. t: At the Convent of Mercy, Grey mouth, on Tuesday, November 27, Mr. Algernon Lindo conducted the practical examination in connection with the Associated Board of Royal Academy of Music and Royal College of Music, London. The examiner expressed great pleasure at the quality of the work in Greymouth. It was not only meritorious on the technical side, but a great deal of intelligence was exhibited in the renderings of the various solos. . A good deal of the playing heard was of considerable artistic merit. In view of the very high standard demanded by the Associated Board, the results must be extremely gratifying to the teachers, and augurs well for the musical future of the younger generation. The Associated Board has decided that for-the future the marks obtained will not be published, therefore the names of candidates appear in order of merit. The results are as follow: Advanced Grade. —Inga Hanuam (violin). Higher Division. —Mary Phelan (violin), Josephine Kennedy. Lower Division. —Marjorie Fletcher (distinction), Georgina Goodwin, Doris Lalor (violin), Florence Goodwin.
