SISTERS OF MERCY, WESTPORT

On Thursday, September 27, the devotional and impressive ceremony of Holy Profession took place at St. Joseph’s Convent of Our Lady of Mercy, Westport. The young ladies who on that occasion consecrated themselves wholly and irrevocably to God are Miss Agnes Cunningham, of Raymond Terrace, New South Wales (in religion, Sister Mary Tarcisius), and Miss May Mears, of Westport (Sister Mary). The Right Rev. Mgr. Walsh officiated, assisted by Rev. Father Eccleton, S.M. (Reefton) and Rev. Father Hegarty, the local assistant priest. A short but very impressive address was given by Rev. Father Eccleton, in which the speaker dwelt earnestly on the election of God of the religious who would henceforth .be under the pleasant responsibility of devoting, every moment of her life, every fibre of her being to her Divine Spouse, until the happy day. would com© when -He would sweetly" call her home.
