The usual ceremonies in connection with the solemnity of Corpus Christi were , observed on the Sunday within the Octave (writes an esteemed correspondent). A. Missa Cantata was celebrated bv the Rev. Father G. Mahony, S.M., at 10.30. At 2.30 the congregation took part in the annual procession. After the recitation of the Rosary the Rev. Father Fay, S.M., preached an eloquent sermon proving the doctrines of the Church on the Real Presence. The procession was then formed, Rev. Father Mahony being master of ceremonies, and over 1200 of the parishioners participated. Rev. Father Fay, attended by Rev. Fathers Casey, S.M., and Fraher, S.M., carried the Blessed Sacrament. In the school grounds an altar had been erected by Mr. C. Lee and beautifully decorated by the Sisters of St. Joseph. Here the procession halted, and after Benediction was given returned to the church by Eastbourne and Heretanga streets. The ceremony was viewed with the utmost respect throughouta fact most creditable to the good sense and spirit of citizenship possessed by the people of Hastings. The parishioners heard with regret the sad news of the death of Rev. Chaplain-Major McMenamin. On Wednesday a Solemn Requiem Mass was celebrated at 9 o'clock for the repose of his soul. The music chosen for the occasion was "Avison's Requiem Mass," a beautiful Mass, which was composed by Mr. Avison, tho choirmaster.
