Mr. John Carroll was, at the municipal elections last week, re-elected a member of the City Council. The month of May is being observed in St. Joseph’s Cathedral "with special devotions in honor of our Blessed Lady. Mr. J. McGrath, Dunedin’s well-known and popular basso, has been advised by the Secretary, G.P.0., Wellington, that he has passed the Senior Telegraph Technical Examination. Mrs. Jackson, on behalf of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, desires to thank an'anonymous (Palmerston) donor of a parcel of clothing. The gift is doubly ■welcome on account of the winter season now approaching. At last week’s elections Mrs. M. A. Jackson, a lady well known for her work in Catholic interests, and in social and charitable activities, was re-elected a member of the Otago Hospital and Charitable Aid Board. The results of St. Dominic’s College (Dunedin Centre) in connection with the Trinity College higher theoretical examinations, held in December, are as follow:—Licentiate (passed practical and theory)— Mary Brown (singing), Renetta Rings (pianoforte). Associate (passed practical and theory)—Dorothy Sweeney (pianoforte), Gwendoline Gillies (pianoforte). Art of teaching (Miss M. Dennehy, Timaru) —Dora Annetts (violin and rudiments), St. Dominic’s College. Certificate (passed practical and rudiments)Evelyn Lynch (honors), singing. St. Joseph’s Harriers held a very enjoyable run last Saturday starting from the Sacred Heart Home, Anderson’s Bay. The trail led up the high road to Shiel Hill, branching off through some paddocks down to Tomahawk Lagoon, and returning by way of the cemetery. In the unavoidable absence of the captain (T. RoUghan) the pack was controlled by Deputy-Capt. J. Burk. The harriers ere afterwards entertained by the Little Sisters of the Poor, who are very cordially thanked for their kindly treatment of the members.
