Rev. Father Jauffrineau writes interestingly in an exchange of the splendid work his mission is doing in the Malabar district, India. Six years ago he was sent to the district to convert pagans and found a new mission. When he arrived there was not a single Christian, and now there are 300. Last year he baptised 54 pagans, and he finds his congregation increasing so rapidly that he contemplates building a new church. Engaged in the colored work of the Josephite Fathers in the United States are 62 priests, 83 Sisters, 23 lay teachers, 4473 pupils, 30 seminarians, 50 ecclesiastical students. There are 48 resident priests in their missions, 18,969 people, 1677 baptisms, 868 converts, and a school attendance of 4473 last year.
