PAN-SOUTHLAND GATHERING

A meeting of the executive took place in the presbytery on Monday evening when further arrangements were made for the above function, which will take place at Invercargill on February 14 (writes our Invercargill correspondent). The A. and P. Society’s show grounds have been secured for the occasion, and there are probably no finer grounds in the Dominion. The grandstand and building accommodation is all that could be desired, and altogether the location is an ideal one. It was decided that the usual procession should take place from the railway station to the grounds, after which High Mass will be celebrated in the open. Tenders will be called for the right to have a fruit and confectionery booth on the grounds; The country committees will be invited to appoint members to the various committees, such as sports, toys for children, etc. The question of charging for admission to the grounds was fully considered, and it was eventually decided that admission should be free. On the past two occasions the weather has been disappointing, so we may reasonably expect and hope for better conditions on this occasion. Given this, then the greatest demonstration of faith ever seen in these parts will be witnessed.
