SERGEANT N. E. FITZGERALD Who has been awarded the Military Medal for good work in the Somme Battle. Sergeant Fitzgerald, of the New Zealand Rifle Brigade, is a son of Mr. and Mrs. N. Fitzgerald, Allen ton, Ashburton. lie was educated at the Ashburton Convent School, and was at the time of enlistment in the firjn of Messrs. Fitzgerald Brothers. lie is a fine type of manhood, and took a keen interest in all kinds of sport. He played in the Canterbury representative football team of 1912, -and was also one of the brothers who won the seven-a-side tournament at Ashburton in 1910. Sergeant Fitzgerald was wounded in the neck and cheek on September 30, and is at present in hospital at Birmingham. Two brothers of Serjeant Fitzgerald have also enlisted—David, in the 18th Reinforcements, and Daniel; who goes into camp this mouth.
