MUSIC EXAMINATIONS

STRATFORD CONVENT. The following pupils of the Stratford Convent were successful at the theoretical examinations held in connection with the Trinity College of Music, London: Senior. —Mabel Pryce, 81 (honors). At the recent writing competition held in Taranaki, in which upwards of 2000 school children competed, six of the prizes were won by pupils of the Stratford Convent —two first prizes, three second prizes, and one fourth. The following are the names of the successful competitors—Standard VI., Mabel Geraghty, Kathleen Wilson ; Standard TV., Constance Bonner, G. Bonner,.Nora Bowler: Standard 111., Alma Thacker. Martha Tfebling (Standard V.) and Mary Coley (Standard TV.) were highly commended.

SISTERS OF THE MISSION, CHRISTCHURCH. The following pupils of the Sisters of the Mission, Lower High street, Christchurch, were successful at the recent practical music examination, in connection with the Royal Academy of Music and the Royal College of Music Higher Division.—Elsie Ives, 126; Eola Forman, 101 (violin) ; Mona Neale, 100 (violin).

Senior.—Honors; Kathleen O’Brien, Lesta Harris, Mona Martin. Pass: Nellie Murphy, Cora Hoskins. Intermediate.—Olive Richards. Junior.—Maggie Hogan (honors), Morgan O’Brien, Veronica Leonard, Jinnie McCrossan, Urban Leonard. First Steps.-Ngata Pitcaithly. Higher Local.—Miss Forbes (pupil of Miss Delahunt, L.A.8., L.T.C.L.). Annie Hutt, who obtained A.T.C.L., was only fifteen years of age.

ROSARY CONVENT, OAMARU. The following are the results of the examination held at Rosary Convent on November 14, by Mr. Myerscough (Trinity College) :, — Licentiate (L.T.C.L.)Miss Eily Kelly (singing) ; Maud McCone (practical work, piano). Associate (A.T.C.L.). —Eily Neil (practical work). Miss Hill passed Art of Teaching and Rudiments in December, 1915. She therefore completes her course and secures the Diploma of Associate. Intermediate Grade.—Daphne Hanna, 78. Preparatory Grade.—Ralph Usherwood, 73.
