Father McDonnell, S.M., of Hastings, is spending a few days in Christchurch, and will leave on a short visit to the West Coast at the end of the week. Miss Mary Ryan has been elected president of the Children of Mary in place of Miss Grace Haughey, who recently entered the novitiate of the Sisters of the Mission. ' The Very Rev. Dean Hills, S.M., on Sunday evening delivered an interesting discourse, in which he " fully explained the various ceremonies in connection with the forthcoming consecration of the Right Rev. Dr. Brodie. The information gained will enable those who attend to understand and follow the ceremony. The many friends of Mr. Michael Lynskey, M.A., of the staff of the Normal School Training College, and Mr. F. R. Callaghan, M.A., of the staff of the Opawa School, will be pleased to learn that they received official intimation by the last English mail that they have been elected Fellows of the Royal Economic Society, London. Both are well-known members of St. Mary’s parish. s ■. The members of the Ladies of Charity and of the Hibernian Society approached the Holy Table at the 7 o’clock Mass on Sunday. The action of the St. Mary’s Hibernian Society is well worthy of imitation, for besides their usual monthly Communion, they have decided to receive Holy Communion every fourth Sunday for the spiritual and temporal welfare of our Catholic soldiers. “
