VISIT OF THE APOSTOLIC DELEGATE TO DUNEDIN. c A well-attended meeting- for the purpose of making arrangements to give a fitting, reception to his . Excellency the .Most Rev. Archbishop Cerretti, Apostolic Delegate, on his visit to Dunedin, was held in St. Joseph’s Hall on Monday evening. The Very Rev, Father ; Coffey, Adm; , presided, and ■ there were

also present Rev. Fathers Delany and Corcoran and Rev. Brother O Ryan. Mr. J. Hally was appointed hon. secretary. ' Very Rev. Father Coffey, after briefly referring -to the object of the meeting, said that his Excellency was expected in Dunedin about, the last ■ week in January. He. was to leave Sydney for Wellington either on the 13th or 20th of next month, and would spend about five days in each centre. Should his Excellency arrive in Dunedin by the first express from the north - it was proposed -that he be received at the railway station by tire Bishop, clergy, and laity. From there he would proceed to the Cathedral, where Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament would be given. On the day after his arrival a public reception would be tendered his Excellency in some large hall in the city, and addresses presented. On the following day it would be for thti proposed reception committee to decide how his Excellency would be entertained. This was the most important event that had ever occurred in the history of the Church in New Zealand, as the Apostolic Delegate was the direct representative of the Holy Father*, whom he represented in the same way as the Governor represented the King, and therefore it was right and fitting that we should give him a most enthusiastic reception. Father Coffey then proposed, and Mr. N. Smith seconded, and it was agreed to, —‘ That a reception committee bo set up.’ The following were then appointed a committee with power to add to their number:—Very Rev. Father Coffey, Adm., Rev.
