Archbishop Walsh, in a letter to the Freeman's Journal regarding objectionable performances in Dublin theatres, calls attention to an evil even more widespread than anything displayed within the wall of a theatre. His Grace says that the bill-posting hoax'dings at Dublin seem to have ‘ become clear of all decent control/ and he adds that ‘ there is little to be gained by parents attempting to guard their children from the evil influences of lascivious displays in the theatre,’ if worse spectacles are openly displayed on the hoardings of public highways.
