HIS LORDSHIP BISHOP CLEARY

On Tuesday evening we received the following cable message from the Rev. Father .Kehoe, of Auckland, who is at present on a visit to his Lordship Bishop Cleary in Sydney:—Bishop Cleary is gradually regaining some strength, though progress is greatly retarded by recurrent, exhausting, severe nerve spasms. Mis Lordship is recovering now from a violent attack today. They lately decreased in intensity and frequency. I believe the worst stage is passed, and the (y&tlook is hopeful, but the patient is still extremely weak. In a letter, received on Tuesday by the Very Rev. Father Coffey, Adm., from the Right Rev. Mgr. Brodie, Diocesan Administrator, Auckland, the following particulars were given concerning the condition of his Lordship Bishop Cleary:With regard to the Bishop’s state of health I think I can now safely say that his Lordship is on the way to recovery. The last letters and cablegrams I received bear out this statement. The doctors have assured both then Rev. Dr. Ormond and the Rev. Father Kehoe that the heart is not affected, the nerve shocks will in due time pass away, and that his Lordship’s restoration to health is only a matter of time, although it may be six months before he is able to leave the hospital. Rev. Father Kehoe will return to Auckland at a very early date, now that we have this assurance from the Bishop’s medical attendants.
