Harvest may now be said to be in full swing throughout South Canterbury (says the Timor n Herald). The yield promises to be much better than was anticipated a couple of months ago.

Reports from North Auckland concerning the suitability of the land for fruit-farming (says the Herald) have attracted the attention of farmers in the south, and during the last few years several sales of land in the north for fruit-farming have taken place. Now an area of 14,000 acres, north of Helensville, abutting on the Kaipara Harbor and forming part of the Hargreaves Estate, is being brought under cultivation for this purpose. The area, which is owned by a private company, is to be subdivided into sections of from 10 to 20 acres, thereby providing fruit farms for from 500 to 1000 prospective settlers. Experts who have been over the land consider that it will prove eminently suitable for apple-growing.
