Ohakune

(From an occasional correspondent.) A branch of the sodality of the Children of Mary was formed last Sunday. Officers were elected, and members, under the direction of Father Menard, are already commencing their good works. An endeavor is being made to establish in Ohakune a branch of the H.A.C.B. Society. The local doctors, however, refuse to take the lodge on the usual terms, or in fact on any terms. Local offshoots of Hibernia are, however, not dismayed, and it is now proposed to form a branch in the usual way and to pool the amount usually paid to the doctor into a common fund, out of which the lodge will pay doctor’s expenses to any member who. becomes eligible to receive benefits. A meeting to consider the position will be held on Friday, the 13th inst. - >• .
