Waihi
(From an occasional correspondent.)
Rosary Sunday in Waihi was ushered in with perfect weather. St. Joseph’s Church was crowded at the 7.30 Mass. It was an edifying sight to see the large numbers that approached the Holy Table. Solemn High Mass was celebrated at 10.30, the church being again packed. The choir was in excellent form, reflecting great credit on the organist, Mr. John Dobson. In the evening Rev. Father Wright preached an eloquent and very instructive sermon. His subject was, ‘ls one religion as good as another?’ A procession of the Blessed Sacrament followed, in which the Children of Mary and First Communicants took part, concluding with Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. It was a most impressive ceremony, and will long be remembered in Waihi. The altars were beautifully decorated by the Sisters of the parish, indicating that neither time nor labor were spared to achieve such a splendid result.
