(vice-president) - took ' the chair, in the , temporary absence of Mr. D. L. Poppelwell (president), /who- had - just arrived by the ' express from Wellington. -.There twas a large - gathering > of members and i intending

members/' The secretary (Mr. M. T.. Francis) read the following report and balance sheet:— Your executive, in reviewing the past season s progress of - both teams, cannot but express pleasure at the stand put up, but it is of opinion that if the second grade team had received the unstinted support of the players in the first half of the season, it would have possibly pulled off the banner. Many of the previous season’s players stood out at the start of the season. A very great improvement took place in the second half of the season, when some vexy hard matches were fought and won, and some very good football shown. In referring to the third grade team, it is to be congratulated on its showing against great odds, and especially on the pluck exhibited by its players in taking the field at times several players short, though it was sometimes compelled to forfeit its matches. It is to be hoped that this season the team will not under any consideration, forfeit a match, and that it will strive to take the field with a full complement of players. It is to be hoped that during. the incoming season all playing members of the club will’ pay proper attention to training : as without it they cannot hope for- success on the football field. The year just past, the club- had an excellent room in which’ to train, and there was no excuse fox not training, and we trust that with the same facilities for this season, that each and all will do his utmost to fit himself for the contests. The club s finances are in a very satisfactory position, being as follows: Brought forward from season 1912, £5 3 Id: receipts, 1913, £9 11s 9d ; total £l4 14s lOd. Expenditure, £6 12s. Credit balance, £8 2s 10d. ■ Mr. Owen Kelly, in moving the adoption of the report and balance'sheet, referred to the progress made, and congratulated the teams upon their improved play during the latter half of .last season, and urged the players to pay special attention to their training, as the main success of a team depended upon its being fit to last out the time of the match. In respect to the finances, we were in a very satisfactory position, but in reviewing the secretary’s book there was still a fair amount of unpaid subscriptions, and he asked each member to make an effort to better the finances of the club. The foregoing motion was seconded by Mr. 11. F. Sullivan, and carried amidst applause.. Mr. Poppelwell at this juncture took the chair and received a round of applause. He said he was pleased to meet the members of the Hibernian , Football Club again, and he appealed to the players to ‘go in for systematic training, as that was the only way to attain success. . , - The following - office-bearers were elected;Patron, Very Rev. Father O’Donnell ; vice-patron. Rev. Father Foley: president, Mr. D. L. Poppelwell; vice-presi-dents Dr. Mcllroy, Messrs. Owen Kelly, Jas. Holland, John Hanley, Matthew Hanley, Thomas Ambrose, Ed. Kelleher, P. Lvnch, Paul O’Connor, and R. Ferris. Committee-Messrs. D. L. Po.pxxelwell and M. T. Francis {ex officio), and Messrs. H. Windle, F. W. Bayley, T. J. Holland, P. Daly, W. Laloli, and J. E. Quirk: secretary and treasurer, Mr. M. T. Francis ; delegate to E.D.S.U., Mr. Owen Kelly. Annual subscription—Second fifteen, 2s fid : third fifteen, Is.
