Queen Amelie, who is an expert nurse and takes a keen interest in all charitable work, went the other Sunday evening to the -West London Hospital, Hammersmith, and spent upwards of two hours in visiting the various wards. Her visit was quite informal, and much appreciated by the patients, the staff, and all associated' with the institution. There are nine wards at i the hospital, containing at the present time ' 160 patients, : and'. Queen Amelie spoke kindly to each sufferer, •_ spending |at the f bedside of some •of them s a considerable time, inquiring as ;| to | their :f ailments and smilingly assuring them of her good wishes.
