May 19. Very Rev. Dean Hills, V.G., Christchurch, is'at present on a visit to Auckland. Rev. Father Edge preached a fine'sermon yesterday present on ' Devotion to our Blessed Lady.' The devotion of the Forty Hours' Adoration will commence at the Cathedral on .next-Sunday after the 11 o'clock Mass, and will finish on Tuesday evening.' Right Rev. Mgr. O'Reilly and Right Rev. Mgr. Brodie returned to-day from Sydney. The latter ° is much improved in health, and his friends are much gratified in consequence. Bro. Foy, past district president, will, in a few months, have been forty-one years a member of the Hibernian Society, and during nearly the whole of that period he has been either a branch or district officer. Much pleasure and gratification were expressed here at the appointment of the Very Rev. Dean O'Shea as Archbishop of Wellington. The District Executive of the Hibernian Society sent the , following telegram: .' The District Executive, representing the New Zealand district, heartily congratulates you upon your elevation to the Archiepiscopal dignity, and pray that God may long spare you to wear the pallium.' The following, message was also sent to the Vicar-General of Wellington: The members of the Holy Family Confraternity, Auckland, heartily congratulate you on your elevation to the dignified office of the Archbishopric.
