TOO BAD
Edith’s grandmother had come from Taranaki for a visit to Wellington, and the young woman— is almost ten years old—took her into the parlor to show her a lion’s head done in crayon. Edith made the picture, and is proud of it. Grandmother adjusted her spectacles and gazed admiringly at the drawing. ‘You don’t know what that is, grandma,’ Edith said, ‘Don’t know what it is!’ responded grandmother, a little touched. ‘ Lived on a farm sixty years and not know a calf’s head when I see it!’.
